Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated July 2026.
This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) describes conduct that is prohibited when using the Compass customer intelligence platform (the “Service”). It forms part of our Terms of Service. Compass is built to protect the customer relationship, and this Policy exists to keep sending on the platform lawful, wanted, and trustworthy. Compass provides features designed to support your compliance obligations, but you remain responsible for how you use the Service.
No unlawful or deceptive sending
You may not use Compass to send messages that are unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive. This includes misleading subject lines or preview text, falsified sender information, disguised advertising, or any attempt to trick recipients about who is contacting them or why.
Consent requirements
You may only send messages to recipients from whom you have appropriate consent to be contacted. You must honor the basis on which that consent was given and must not send to purchased, scraped, or rented lists. Compass tracks consent state on the unified customer profile and enforces suppression, so recipients who have not consented — or who have opted out — are not contacted.
Anti-spam expectations
Sending through Compass must meet widely recognized anti-spam expectations, consistent with frameworks such as CAN-SPAM and CASL. In practice this means:
- Accurate sender and header information that identifies you clearly.
- A functioning, easy-to-find unsubscribe mechanism in every marketing message.
- Prompt processing of opt-outs — handled automatically by Compass suppression.
- A valid postal or contact identity for the sender.
- No sending to recipients who have withdrawn consent.
Prohibited content
You may not use Compass to distribute content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative, defamatory, or that infringes intellectual property. You may not send malware, phishing, or other malicious payloads, and you may not promote content prohibited by applicable law.
No fabricated offers
You may not send fabricated offers, fake discounts, false scarcity, or invented endorsements. Because Compass drafts campaigns from your data and objectives and asks you to review and approve them, you are responsible for ensuring every offer you send is genuine and accurate.
Security and abuse
You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other customers’ data, probe or test the vulnerability of our systems, interfere with normal operation, circumvent rate limits or usage controls, or use the Service to overwhelm or attack any third party.
Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take action we consider appropriate, including throttling or suspending sending, disabling features, or terminating access as described in our Terms of Service. Serious or repeated abuse — especially sending without consent — may result in immediate suspension to protect recipients, deliverability, and the wider platform.
Reporting
To report a suspected violation of this Policy, contact us through our contact page or at privacy@compass.st.
